My experience of NHD this year, I was by myself . I did a paper on Phillis Wheatley, how she was the most inspirational poet in American literature. She also used her poetry to show sarcasim. I found many good sources to prove that she used sarcasm in her poetry. She inspired many African Americans to believe that they would get what they wanted in life. That was freedom and equal rights. She started to write poetry when she was 16.
I believe I have improved since last year in my freshman year. Doing this project for the 2nd time in this school it has made me better writer because this was my second year doing this. Now I know what to do and what not to do. I think it’s a good experience because it helps you get ready for these kinds of things in college.
One of my best sources I can say is, one of her poems called “On Being Brought From Africa To America”.
I learned that you should make sure you get your sources and cite them and annotate them. Make sure you know what you are doing because you don’t want to do everything at the last minute.
